I’m so blessed to be here at Perley Health with Marjorie, my extraordinary wife. We’ve lived all over Canada, travelled extensively, raised three wonderful children and enjoyed our best life in retirement. But as Marjorie developed dementia, I knew it would take more than me to give her the best care possible – which is why I hope you read our story.

Sandra Perron’s decision to leave a gift in her will to the Perley Health Foundation reflects her deep-seated desire to honour the men and women who serve in the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).
If you’ve ever been a caregiver, you know how worrisome and stressful it can be. The weight of it all can keep you up at night, especially right now, having a loved one in long-term care during the COVID-19 pandemic. But I’m comforted knowing Dad is happy and comfortable at Perley Health.

Our response to COVID-19 is essential to containing the impact of this virus throughout our Seniors’ Village and beyond. As healthcare providers across the city come together to fight this virus - community members like you are doing your part by social distancing and helping to flatten the curve. Now, you can do even more to help by donating to our COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
Particularly popular – and effective – is the latest interactive environment created by residents, instructors and volunteers in the art Gallery on the second floor. This immersive multi-media art installation, entitled Octopus’ Garden, evokes the seashore and the ocean depths.
Maintaining a Sense of Normalcy
To protect public health and maximize quality of life for Perley Health residents, staff and managers continue to adjust policies and programming in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The cancellation of the 2020 edition of Ottawa Race Weekend won’t deter the newest members of Team Perley Health. Marie Gauthier and Susan Davies, seniors who reside in Perley Health’s independent-living apartments, are determined to keep fundraising and training for one of the Weekend’s events – the two-kilometre race – with their walking poles.
