You can lift the spirits of the women and men who provide exceptional care to Veterans and Seniors at Perley Health.
As another year of pandemic living draws to a close, I want to make sure you know how much your support has meant to all of us at Perley Health. Thanks to you, and despite the challenges that COVID-19 continues to present, we are within reach of fulfilling the 2021 Priority Needs List for residents.
Not only have you helped ensure exceptional care to Seniors and Veterans during difficult times, but you have also lifted the spirits of our extraordinary caregivers. You have helped put people, including residents, staff and volunteers, first; something that all of us try to do every day at Perley Health.
One of the joys of my job is the privilege of expressing our gratitude for the difference you make in so many lives at Perley Health.
So much has been written about the plight of frontline workers in healthcare during COVID-19. We’ve all seen and read stories about stress on workers, especially those who care for older Canadians.
And while I have often seen fatigue in the eyes of the dedicated staff at Perley Health, I’ve also seen many expressions of pride, joy and gratitude. You should know how often you are the source of those positive feelings.
You play a central role in those uplifting moments when a Nurse, Personal Support Worker, or Housekeeper realizes that a generous community is behind them and that there are kindhearted people, like you, who believe in their work.
When you give, you may think you are simply helping to fund equipment and programs, but you are doing so much more. You are giving a vote of confidence to the people at the heart of extraordinary care at Perley Health. I see the impact you make in the warm hellos, friendly smiles and compassionate care that regularly happen right outside my office door.
So often, I witness extra energy in the steps of a staff member as they go out of their way to provide care. When they know you are behind them, it helps them to go above and beyond.
Can I ask you to again show our staff your belief in what they do? Will you make a donation to support extraordinary people and exceptional care at Perley Health?

I wish you could have been here to see the gratitude in the eyes of a Nurse named Sam when she started using a new piece of safe wound care equipment that donors like you made possible. Or when a Personal Support Worker named Dan smiles because he has access to a power lift that helps residents start their day.
It would have been a special moment for you to witness the joy of our Instructor and Artist Ross when he welcomed residents back to the Creative Arts Studio, programming funded in part by donor generosity. When a resident has a comfortable sleep on a new specialized mattress, a donor like you has made it possible.
As much as you have done for Perley Health, I am hoping you can find it in your heart to do a little bit more in the waning days of 2021. We need your help.
Every year, staff develop a Priority Needs list of items that fall outside regular government funding. Adequate care is provided by Government funding, but it’s donors like you that make exceptional care possible. While some items on the list are big and others are small, all of them make a difference.
We urgently need your help to check off the final high-priority items by the end of the year. These are all items that staff have identified as directly impacting care and quality of life at Perley Health. Can you help?
Your gift today will mean so much to the people who provide care to the Seniors and Veterans who deserve the best care we can provide.
Wishing you a safe and joy-filled Christmas,
