An important update regarding COVID-19
April 16, 2020
I hope you and your loved ones are well and safe.
Perley Health is actively responding to the ever-changing landscape that COVID-19 has created. We continue to work closely with Ottawa Public Health and our regional healthcare partners to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and staff. Yesterday, Perley Health received confirmation of a positive test result for COVID-19 from one of our staff members who worked on Ottawa 1 East. Right now, there is no evidence that the virus has passed to co-workers or residents. Residents on the unit are not displaying any symptoms and are in good spirits.
Our response to COVID-19 is essential to containing the impact of this virus throughout our Seniors’ Village and beyond. As healthcare providers across the city come together to fight this virus - community members like you are doing your part by social distancing and helping to flatten the curve. Now, you can do even more to help by donating to our COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
As the situation continues to evolve so will our response. Your donation will be put toward urgent priorities as they arise including;
- purchasing additional personal protective equipment (PPE) to respond to increasing needs. Staff who are not interacting directly with residents are wearing new cloth masks to keep the supply of surgical masks available for the frontline staff;
- Additional housekeeping staffing to support enhanced cleaning measures around the clock;
- Hiring of a new team of meal helpers to residents during the three daily meals and with snack delivery;
- Creating an opportunity to show our appreciation to all staff who continue to keep seniors and Veterans safe and happy.
More than ever, Perley Health needs you.
DONATE NOWToday, you can ensure our frontline staff continue to have the equipment and tools they need to care for your family and friends, and the seniors and Veterans in our community.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and warm wishes. Please take care of yourself and one another during these trying times.
Yours in health,
Delphine Hasle, CFRE
Executive Director
