A Heartfelt Tribute: One Family’s Gratitude for Perley Health’s Dedicated Care
The Commerford family, some of who were living out of town, found themselves navigating the challenges of long-distance caregiving both before and during the pandemic. Despite the physical distance, their confidence in the care their parents received at Perley Health never wavered. Recently, they chose to express their gratitude through a tribute gift, recognizing the incredible dedication of the Perley Health staff. “Living out of town, there was so much confidence in the care Mom and Dad were receiving, particularly during COVID,” shared Jim Commerford. The pandemic added layers of complexity to senior care, but the Perley Health team rose to the challenge, ensuring that residents remained safe, and connected with their families.
“The Resident Care Conferences really stood out for me. Here was a group of people who were all so committed to Mom and Dad's well-being, and it wasn’t just medical staff. It was everyone who played a role in their wellbeing—from nurses and doctors to dietitians and recreation staff,” Jim recalled. These meetings underscored the collaborative and holistic nature of care at Perley Health, where every team member plays a vital role in the residents’ quality of life.The Commerford family always felt heard and respected. “Our family's feedback was always considered and applied when appropriate—we were never made to feel like we were asking too much,” Jim noted. This inclusive approach ensured that the care provided was personalized and responsive to the family's insights and concerns.
From the warm welcome at the front desk by the Commissioner to the dedicated care on the units, every encounter at Perley left a lasting impression on the Commerford famliy. Their deep appreciation motivated them to make a tribute gift to the Perley Health Foundation.
When asked why they chose to give a tribute gift, Jim responded, “There are so many good causes and ways to give these days, but I think it is important to be intentional with your giving. When you have an organization like Perley who day in and day out is working to transform care for Seniors and Veterans, it is important to not only recognize that work but say thank you.”
Their tribute gift is a testament to the exceptional care their parents received and a heartfelt acknowledgment of the unwavering dedication of the Perley Health team. The Commerford family’s generosity will help ensure that Perley Health can continue to provide outstanding care for Seniors and Veterans, making a meaningful impact on countless lives.
