Kristan (Kris) K. Birchard, BA, CLU, CH.F.C., TEP (Ottawa) has been the principal of Eagle Insurance Agency Limited since 1991. He has more than four decades of experience in the financial services industry. The firm provides comprehensive financial planning to clients.

Kris has been very active as a volunteer in the industry. He is Past National Chair of Advocis, the Financial Advisors Association of Canada, and Past National Chair of the Institute for Advanced Financial Education. He served six years on the National Board of the Financial Planners Standards Council, one as treasurer. Currently, he is National Chair Regulatory Affairs for Advocis. Kris was the inaugural recipient of the J.G. Taylor Award, a national award recognizing outstanding contributions to both industry and community. In addition, the Ottawa Chapter of Advocis awarded him the John Goebbels Award of Merit.

Kris’s community involvement includes service to the United Way as both a member of the Campaign Cabinet and the Board of Directors. He was the founding Chair of the United Way, endowment fund and has received their prestigious Community Builder Award. Kris also served for 10 years on the Board of Christie Lake Kids, three as President. He is currently President of the Tawingo Alumni Circle, a residential camp for children in the Muskoka Region.
