Colonel (Ret'd) Sandy Schwab's IRONMAN Challenge For Veterans

Sandy Schwab has gone the distance—literally—for Veterans at Perley Health. On race day in Ottawa, Sandy pushed through an incredible test of endurance, completing the IronMan Challenge with a total finish time of 13 hours, 41 minutes, and 41 seconds. His times included a 1:21:43 swim, a 6:07:08 bike ride, and a 5:56:09 run—a remarkable achievement that shows both determination and heart.

But Sandy’s impact goes far beyond the finish line. Through his IronMan challenge, he has raised an astounding $42,059 to date to support the Veterans who call Perley Health home. His strength and commitment inspire us all, proving that when passion meets purpose, incredible things can be accomplished.

One IronMan, thousands of strides for Veterans—your gift keeps the momentum going.

Why Vets, Why Now?

Veterans numbers are growing and we have a new generation of post-WW II Veterans who supported forty years of peacekeeping and ten years of conflict in Afghanistan. These men and women need our care and support. Also, government funding cover most of the Rations and Quarters (R&Q) for the Veterans, but does not provide adequate funding beyond the basics. Morale and Welfare (M&W) activities are mostly supported through volunteer activities and fundraising in the community.

With a significant presence of serving and retired CAF members and their supporters residing in the Ottawa Valley, this should be most achievable. As with many militaries, the CAF has a rich tradition of producing great warriors and formidable athletes in many disciplines. Sandy feels very privileged to have been guided and inspired by these coach-athletes in 20 years of CAF Triathlons.

Please help Sandy reach his $45,000 goal in support of Perley Health Veterans. Thank you.
