Canada Post Strike Update: Information About Your Mailed Donation

Canada Post Strike Update

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) issued strike notices to Canada Post and announced a national strike on Friday, November 15.

This strike will significantly impact Canada Post services, as mail and parcels will not be accepted, processed, or delivered for the duration of the strike.

We understand that you may want to generously donate to Perley Health Foundation by mail and may have questions about your giving during this time.

As per the Canada Revenue Agency, mailed cheques must be
postmarked by December 31 to qualify as a 2024 gift.

If you recently sent a donation by mail

Thank you for your generous gift. If your donation is currently in the postal network, it should be delivered once the strike ends, though delays are expected as operations resume. If we receive your cheque after December 31 but it is postmarked on or before that date, it will still be processed as a 2024 gift. If you are concerned about the delay in processing your cheque, please call our office at 613-526-7173.

If you were planning to send a donation by mail

To avoid delays caused by the service disruption, we encourage you to use one of the following alternative methods:

  • Online Giving: Donate directly on our website and receive a tax receipt immediately via email.
